Sharing my research and the joys of science is one of the best things about being a scientist.

I frequently give talks in non-academic settings, including as a keynote speaker. Topics range from nuclear science, energy, meteoritics and space exploration, and science in society.

I think that a science education and scientific literacy are vital attributes of well-functioning society, and I harbour a keen interest in education.

I could happily talk about science all day.

If you’d like to book me for a talk:

Examples of talks in my repertoire.

Amazing Atoms: Nuclear Science Can Change The World

By coming to know the atom, we can power the world cleanly, cure illness in novel ways, and explore the Solar System.

NUclear medicine: Radioactivity & novel cures for cancer

What are nuclear medicines? How can we use nuclear waste to cure cancers and diagnose disease?

Nuclear waste: where there’s muck, there’s brass

How does nuclear power work? And how can we use nuclear waste to our advantage?

NET ZERO IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT NUCLeAR

What role does nuclear play in net zero? How does it compare to other carbon-free energy sources?

Beyond the Blue Sky: Science for the sake of science

What are the societal and economic benefits of doing ‘science for the sake of science’?

METEORITEs: The stones from outer space

What are meteorites? What can they teach us? Why should we care?

NUCLEAR POWER IN SPACE

We can power Moon bases with miniature nuclear reactors and power spacecraft with nuclear batteries.
